Right now I am working with open source software such as Krita, Gimp, Inkscape, and Synfig to make my art. I also work mainly in a Linux environment. I have also picked up the ink pens again. Animation has taken a back seat to drawing, and digital painting. I like the strange, the macabre, the ridiculous, and the poignant. I use both established symbolism, and create my own when drawing on my subconscious in a piece. I enjoy illustration, traditional art, and design, and I think the class distinctions between them are arbitrary bullshit.

I'm a single dad, working a job to pay the bills, and making art to keep me sane. I'm a reader and thinker more than a doer (INTP on the Briggs/Myers scale although I have some lean into the F and J), and can have trouble finishing a piece if I plan out too much of it, and don't leave myself room for surprises.

I switch out my beliefs like changing a shirt, not due to indecision as much as wanting to try something new on. I am a man of science, and yet can believe in most creation myths. Right now Grant Morrison's 'Earth as one entity, of which we are just individual cells, evolving in a time envelope until it matures into a 5th dimensional energy being' is at the top of my list. The hawk is my spirit messenger. I enter the dream lands and my own subconscious and return and try to put what I witness on paper.

Sometimes I just draw and paint for fun.
Interests
While meditating the other day, and practicing opening my third eye, a vision came to me. Picture a wolf angry, growling, back hunched, on a slight rise above the floor of a dark wood. Imagine the face of the wolf, its maw open, teeth gleaming, eyes glowing, and growling so fiercely you feel it in your soul. Then, suddenly, lightning strikes, enveloping the wolf, not harming it, but filling the wolf with power. This is the piece I'm working on now. I'm going old school, using dip pens (and brushes) and ink on bristol board, mainly to get the fine lines needed for the wolf's fur. Also I've had the itch to work with dip pens again since posting my older ink pieces back in Sept.
